Nationwide support Turnstyle project to give youngsters a Fighting Chance

In Aldershot Park Ward – a community where many young people are at risk of becoming involved in anti-social behaviour, youth violence, or criminal exploitation – early, targeted intervention can make all the difference. That’s why Nationwide Windows & Doors has chosen to support the Fighting Chance Project, delivered by Turnstyle Youth, as part of its commitment to creating meaningful social value. This 12-week, in-school programme blends behaviour change workshops with combat skills training to re-engage some of the hardest-to-reach students. It helps young people develop focus, resilience, and self-worth, offering a new direction at a critical point in their lives. The project is supported by VIVID, one of the largest providers of affordable housing in the south of England, through its social impact work with communities, and by supply chain partner Nationwide. “At VIVID, we’re committed to creating opportunities that help young people thrive,” said Alex Nagle, Customer Service Director at VIVID. “The Fighting Chance Project is a powerful example of how early, targeted support can build confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging. “Through VIVID Plus, our charitable arm, we’re proud to invest in initiatives like this – helping young people rediscover their potential and supporting communities to grow stronger together.” Pete O’Shea, Founder of Turnstyle, added: “Turnstyle exists to help young people who’ve been written off by mainstream systems rediscover their worth, discipline, and potential. Contributions like this one from Nationwide don’t just keep the lights on – they light a path. We’re deeply thankful.” The programme is currently running in a secondary school in Aldershot, and the outcomes are powerful. Students who were previously on the verge of exclusion are now showing increased attendance, improved behaviour, and a renewed belief in themselves. The impact of the Fighting Chance Project is best expressed by those who’ve seen it up close – the young people taking part, and the educators who support them: By backing Turnstyle Youth’s work, Nationwide Windows & Doors is helping to deliver real, grassroots social value. This isn’t just about improving homes – it’s about standing alongside the people working to change lives in the communities where those homes are. Kevin Caveney, Director of Commercial Sales at Nationwide, commented: “Supporting initiatives like Fighting Chance is part of our wider commitment to social value. We’re proud to stand alongside Turnstyle and VIVID in giving young people the support and belief they deserve.” To find out more about the Fighting Chance Project and how you can help, go to www.turnstyleuk.org.
Nationwide Proud to Support Harrow’s Heroes Event

Nationwide Windows & Doors is proud to confirm its support for Harrow’s Heroes 2025, a flagship community awards event organised by the London Borough of Harrow to honour the incredible individuals who go above and beyond to make a difference in the local area. This year’s event will be especially meaningful as it coincides with the 60th anniversary of the borough, making it a milestone celebration of civic pride and community spirit. As part of its ongoing commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility, Nationwide is pleased to contribute funding in support of the event. This sponsorship will help the London Borough of Harrow deliver an evening that recognises and celebrates the outstanding efforts of local volunteers and community champions. “We’re delighted to support Harrow’s Heroes 2025,” said Kevin Caveney, Director of Commercial Sales at Nationwide Windows. “This initiative reflects the very best of community spirit, and it’s a privilege to be able to give something back to individuals who selflessly contribute to the wellbeing of others. Supporting this event aligns perfectly with our values and our commitment to social responsibility.” Organised annually by the London Borough of Harrow, Harrow’s Heroes recognises the work of volunteers, community champions, and unsung heroes from across the borough. The evening includes a drinks reception, dinner, and an awards presentation, serving as a heartfelt ‘thank you’ to the volunteers who make Harrow a better place to live. The event is attended by residents, local volunteers, the Mayor of Harrow, local politicians, and senior community figures such as the borough commander, ensuring the contributions of award winners are acknowledged at the highest levels. Kevin added: “We commend the London Borough of Harrow for organising such an impactful event, and we offer our congratulations to all those being recognised this year. We’re proud to play a small part in helping honour those who help build stronger communities.”
Nationwide Supports Pioneer Group with Sanctuary Project

As part of its ongoing commitment to delivering social value across the communities it serves, Nationwide Windows & Doors is proud to support The Pioneer Group by replacing three windows at The Sanctuary – a vital community hub in Birmingham. Located in Castle Vale, The Sanctuary is a welcoming space for local residents to connect, access support, and take part in a wide range of activities. The building plays a central role in helping Pioneer deliver its mission to provide more than just housing, by fostering strong, resilient communities. With several windows in poor condition, the building was becoming increasingly difficult and costly to maintain. In response, Nationwide has stepped in to supply and fit three brand new, energy-efficient windows – helping to create a warmer, more comfortable and secure space for the community to enjoy. “The Sanctuary is the focal point for community activities,” said Leonie Hammond, Contracts Manager at Pioneer Group. “It’s important that we make the hub welcoming and comfortable, and maintaining the fabric of the building plays a huge part in that. These new windows will not only improve the building’s appearance, but they’ll also help reduce heating costs – which means more resources can be directed towards community support.” The partnership forms part of Nationwide’s wider social value strategy, which ensures that every contract it delivers provides tangible benefits to the communities involved. From volunteering time and expertise to offering local apprenticeships and in-kind donations, Nationwide continues to go above and beyond for its clients and their residents. “Social value isn’t just a buzzword – it’s embedded in everything we do,” said Kevin Caveney, Commercial Sales Director at Nationwide. “We’re proud to support Pioneer with this contribution to a facility that makes a huge difference for local people.” The window replacements at The Sanctuary are due to be completed with minimal disruption to services and the upgrade is expected to make an immediate impact in terms of comfort, energy efficiency, and the overall visitor experience.

Nationwide spreads festive cheer with Christmas tree donation to Castle Vale
Nationwide Windows and Doors has brought the spirit of the season to Castle Vale in North Birmingham with the donation of a magnificent 14-foot Christmas tree, now permanently planted in Centre Park. This generous gesture, part of the company’s ongoing partnership with modern-day housing association The Pioneer Group, symbolises community spirit and will serve as a focal point for festive celebrations for years to come. The tree, adorned with 60 metres of Christmas lights also donated by Nationwide, was officially unveiled during a ‘lights switch-on’ event on 5 December. Local residents gathered to enjoy the festivities as the tree was illuminated to mark the start of the holiday season. This initiative is the latest in a series of collaborations between Nationwide and The Pioneer Group, which manages more than 2,000 homes in Castle Vale. Previous projects include a comprehensive windows and doors replacement programme, enhancing energy efficiency and security for local residents. Simon Wilson, Chief Executive at The Pioneer Group, commented: “The Christmas Tree lights switch-on is a wonderful way to bring our community together. We’re incredibly thankful to Nationwide Windows and Doors for their generous support. Their donation stands as a testament to the power of partnerships in fostering community spirit.” Councillor Ray Goodwin also praised the collaborative effort: “This event showcases the strength of partnerships in Castle Vale. My heartfelt thanks to The Pioneer Group and Nationwide Windows and Doors for making this festive celebration possible.” Nationwide is dedicated to creating meaningful social value through its work. The donation of the Christmas tree reflects the company’s commitment to enhancing community well-being and fostering enduring partnerships and demonstrates how businesses can make a positive impact with thoughtful contributions that resonate deeply within the communities they serve. Kevin Caveney, Director of Commercial Sales at Nationwide, said: “We are proud to support Castle Vale with this donation. The Christmas tree represents more than festive decor – it’s a lasting symbol of unity and joy. We hope it becomes a cherished centrepiece for the community, especially during the holiday season.”
Nationwide partners with Golding Homes to deliver new community benches

Nationwide Windows and Doors (NWD) has partnered with Maidstone-based local housing association Golding Homes to provide high-quality, socially-engaging seating for residents. With a total of 21 new benches delivered, the initiative aims to enhance community spaces, providing a welcoming place to gather, relax, and enjoy the surroundings. The benches have already been warmly received. A Golding customer from Park Wood said: “I can’t wait to have a nice cup of coffee in the sun out here!” Also, during the transporting and installation of the benches, delivery driver Wilfred treated the team to a piano performance, adding a special touch to the occasion. “We’re incredibly grateful to Nationwide for their support and partnership on this project,” commented Alice Ditcher, Community and Customer Engagement Advisor at Golding Homes. “The benches have exceeded our expectations and have already become a valued part of our community spaces.” Kevin Caveney, Director of Commercial Sales at Nationwide, said: “We recognise how our engagement can positively impact social value and take our commitments seriously. However, it’s not always straightforward identifying projects where residents can obtain immediate tangible benefits.” “That’s why we’re particularly delighted to have been able to contribute to such a worthwhile project as this one. It underscores our commitment to fostering community spaces through collaboration to enhance community life. “It’s great to hear that residents are already enjoying the benches and it just goes to show how these simple additions can make such a meaningful impact on local communities.” For more information on Nationwide and the work that they do, go to www.nwd.co.uk.
NWD provide toolkit sponsorship for new NCHA apprentices

Nationwide Windows & Doors (NWD) has helped to welcome four new Multi-trade Apprentices with their first professional toolkits as they start their first week at Nottingham Community Housing Association (NCHA). Alfie, Joe, Leo, and Rosie have been gifted the toolkits, which include all the basics they need to get started in their new careers, as part of a £2,100 sponsorship from NWD, providing them with something practical that will be of great use to them over the next year. NCHA delivers care and support to people all over the East Midlands and has a track record of providing apprenticeship roles in housing, social care, building trades, and business administration. They work in partnership with the National Apprenticeship Service and local colleges to provide tailor-made opportunities across the organisation and through our contractors. These apprenticeship positions have been created in the NCHA Property Services team to give the four successful candidates a good foundation in fundamental trade skills. Over the next year they will gain skills in plumbing, painting, joinery, and plastering, before choosing which area they want to specialise in. Paul Durrance, Regional Operations Manager at Nationwide’s Nottingham Installation Hub, said: “I started my career as an apprentice joiner, so I’m pleased that at Nationwide we’re able to support young apprentices at the start of their careers. Having a good set of tools will help them to learn the skills they need to succeed, and everyone at Nationwide wishes them all the best as they start their new careers.”

Nationwide daredevils raise £9,080 for Myton Hospice

On Sunday, 26th November, three brave members of our team joined #TeamMyton for a skydive at Langar Airfield. Amanda Bruce, Cat Feehan and Dave Wilson performed the freefall from 14,000ft to raise funds to support Myton Hospice, a cause that is very close to our hearts at Nationwide. The Myton Hospices do incredible work, offering help via their patient and family support services, and in the community through Myton at Home, helping thousands of people each year living with terminal illnesses. Myton is not just about providing excellent end-of-life care, they also offer care and support to patients and their loved ones from the moment they are told that their illness cannot be cured. However, Myton needs to raise £10.5 million of the £13.25 million needed each year to enable them to provide their services free of charge. The three daredevils set a personal target of £6,000 collectively, but they smashed that to raise much more for this incredible charity – eventually raising a total of £9,080! It was an awesome experience for the three ‘high flyers’ and proves that the sky really is the limit when you set your sights on something. Pictured (from left): Amanda, Cat, and Dave – they would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took the time to make a donation, it really has helped to make a difference to so many people during their most difficult time.
‘Spot On’ Sponsorship for CS Colts

Kevin Caveney, Nationwide’s Director of Commercial Sales, handing over the cheque to CS Colts Centre Spot Colts Football Club (CS Colts), established to help children from disadvantaged communities in the Black Country, has received £2,000 in sponsorship from Nationwide Windows & Doors (NWD), to support them in the outstanding work they do. Formed in 2010, CS Colts has gained a reputation for excellent coaching while providing an environment for players to develop and progress. Over the last 12 years, they have helped 38 players sign for professional football academies. A huge majority of CS Colts players, more than 70 percent, come from inner city areas and from low income families. “We started the club at the request of parents who wanted their children to play somewhere that offered a safe and fun environment,” said Manny Abbeyquaye, Director of Centre Spot Colts. “As well as having the benefit of being trained by highly experienced coaches. “The last few years have been extremely challenging for most of the families our players come from. The pandemic, and now the cost-of-living crisis, have had a negative effect on the income of our families, which has meant that in some cases they can no longer afford for their children to play football. “Although our club is designed to make access to our teams as affordable as possible by reducing costs and charging the least fees, some players are still missing out. Nationwide’s sponsorship allows us to be able to further reduce our subs for those players who will otherwise not have the opportunity to play and enjoy the sport they enjoy so much.” Kevin Caveney, Director of Commercial Sales at NWD, says: “At Nationwide, we are always looking to provide support to causes that align with our own core values of community enrichment and social responsibility. “The work that CS Colts undertake to foster positive change and create lasting opportunities in the region is inspiring. We’re proud to back such a fantastic cause that helps to empower disadvantaged children while promoting the spirit of teamwork and sportsmanship.”
