Nationwide Proud to Support Harrow’s Heroes Event

Nationwide Windows & Doors is proud to confirm its support for Harrow’s Heroes 2025, a flagship community awards event organised by the London Borough of Harrow to honour the incredible individuals who go above and beyond to make a difference in the local area. This year’s event will be especially meaningful as it coincides with the 60th anniversary of the borough, making it a milestone celebration of civic pride and community spirit. As part of its ongoing commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility, Nationwide is pleased to contribute funding in support of the event. This sponsorship will help the London Borough of Harrow deliver an evening that recognises and celebrates the outstanding efforts of local volunteers and community champions. “We’re delighted to support Harrow’s Heroes 2025,” said Kevin Caveney, Director of Commercial Sales at Nationwide Windows. “This initiative reflects the very best of community spirit, and it’s a privilege to be able to give something back to individuals who selflessly contribute to the wellbeing of others. The evening includes a drinks reception, dinner, and an awards presentation, serving as a heartfelt ‘thank you’ to the volunteers who make Harrow a better place to live. The event is attended by residents, local volunteers, the Mayor of Harrow, local politicians, and senior community figures such as the borough commander, ensuring the contributions of award winners are acknowledged at the highest levels. Kevin added: “We commend the London Borough of Harrow for organising such an impactful event, and we offer our congratulations to all those being recognised this year. We’re proud to play a small part in helping honour those who help build stronger communities.”
Nationwide Supports Pioneer Group with Sanctuary Project

As part of its ongoing commitment to delivering social value across the communities it serves, Nationwide Windows & Doors is proud to support The Pioneer Group by replacing three windows at The Sanctuary – a vital community hub in Birmingham. Located in Castle Vale, The Sanctuary is a welcoming space for local residents to connect, access support, and take part in a wide range of activities. The building plays a central role in helping Pioneer deliver its mission to provide more than just housing, by fostering strong, resilient communities. With several windows in poor condition, the building was becoming increasingly difficult and costly to maintain. In response, Nationwide has stepped in to supply and fit three brand new, energy-efficient windows – helping to create a warmer, more comfortable and secure space for the community to enjoy. “The Sanctuary is the focal point for community activities,” said Leonie Hammond, Contracts Manager at Pioneer Group. “It’s important that we make the hub welcoming and comfortable, and maintaining the fabric of the building plays a huge part in that. These new windows will not only improve the building’s appearance, but they’ll also help reduce heating costs – which means more resources can be directed towards community support.” The partnership forms part of Nationwide’s wider social value strategy, which ensures that every contract it delivers provides tangible benefits to the communities involved. From volunteering time and expertise to offering local apprenticeships and in-kind donations, Nationwide continues to go above and beyond for its clients and their residents. “Social value isn’t just a buzzword – it’s embedded in everything we do,” said Kevin Caveney, Commercial Sales Director at Nationwide. “We’re proud to support Pioneer with this contribution to a facility that makes a huge difference for local people.” The window replacements at The Sanctuary are due to be completed with minimal disruption to services and the upgrade is expected to make an immediate impact in terms of comfort, energy efficiency, and the overall visitor experience.

Nationwide spreads festive cheer with Christmas tree donation to Castle Vale
Nationwide Windows and Doors has brought the spirit of the season to Castle Vale in North Birmingham with the donation of a magnificent 14-foot Christmas tree, now permanently planted in Centre Park. This generous gesture, part of the company’s ongoing partnership with modern-day housing association The Pioneer Group, symbolises community spirit and will serve as a focal point for festive celebrations for years to come. The tree, adorned with 60 metres of Christmas lights also donated by Nationwide, was officially unveiled during a ‘lights switch-on’ event on 5 December. Local residents gathered to enjoy the festivities as the tree was illuminated to mark the start of the holiday season. This initiative is the latest in a series of collaborations between Nationwide and The Pioneer Group, which manages more than 2,000 homes in Castle Vale. Previous projects include a comprehensive windows and doors replacement programme, enhancing energy efficiency and security for local residents. Simon Wilson, Chief Executive at The Pioneer Group, commented: “The Christmas Tree lights switch-on is a wonderful way to bring our community together. We’re incredibly thankful to Nationwide Windows and Doors for their generous support. Their donation stands as a testament to the power of partnerships in fostering community spirit.” Councillor Ray Goodwin also praised the collaborative effort: “This event showcases the strength of partnerships in Castle Vale. My heartfelt thanks to The Pioneer Group and Nationwide Windows and Doors for making this festive celebration possible.” Nationwide is dedicated to creating meaningful social value through its work. The donation of the Christmas tree reflects the company’s commitment to enhancing community well-being and fostering enduring partnerships and demonstrates how businesses can make a positive impact with thoughtful contributions that resonate deeply within the communities they serve. Kevin Caveney, Director of Commercial Sales at Nationwide, said: “We are proud to support Castle Vale with this donation. The Christmas tree represents more than festive decor – it’s a lasting symbol of unity and joy. We hope it becomes a cherished centrepiece for the community, especially during the holiday season.”
Nationwide partners with Golding Homes to deliver new community benches

Nationwide Windows and Doors (NWD) has partnered with Maidstone-based local housing association Golding Homes to provide high-quality, socially-engaging seating for residents. With a total of 21 new benches delivered, the initiative aims to enhance community spaces, providing a welcoming place to gather, relax, and enjoy the surroundings. The benches have already been warmly received. A Golding customer from Park Wood said: “I can’t wait to have a nice cup of coffee in the sun out here!” Also, during the transporting and installation of the benches, delivery driver Wilfred treated the team to a piano performance, adding a special touch to the occasion. “We’re incredibly grateful to Nationwide for their support and partnership on this project,” commented Alice Ditcher, Community and Customer Engagement Advisor at Golding Homes. “The benches have exceeded our expectations and have already become a valued part of our community spaces.” Kevin Caveney, Director of Commercial Sales at Nationwide, said: “We recognise how our engagement can positively impact social value and take our commitments seriously. However, it’s not always straightforward identifying projects where residents can obtain immediate tangible benefits.” “That’s why we’re particularly delighted to have been able to contribute to such a worthwhile project as this one. It underscores our commitment to fostering community spaces through collaboration to enhance community life. “It’s great to hear that residents are already enjoying the benches and it just goes to show how these simple additions can make such a meaningful impact on local communities.” For more information on Nationwide and the work that they do, go to www.nwd.co.uk.

Nationwide daredevils raise £9,080 for Myton Hospice

On Sunday, 26th November, three brave members of our team joined #TeamMyton for a skydive at Langar Airfield. Amanda Bruce, Cat Feehan and Dave Wilson performed the freefall from 14,000ft to raise funds to support Myton Hospice, a cause that is very close to our hearts at Nationwide. The Myton Hospices do incredible work, offering help via their patient and family support services, and in the community through Myton at Home, helping thousands of people each year living with terminal illnesses. Myton is not just about providing excellent end-of-life care, they also offer care and support to patients and their loved ones from the moment they are told that their illness cannot be cured. However, Myton needs to raise £10.5 million of the £13.25 million needed each year to enable them to provide their services free of charge. The three daredevils set a personal target of £6,000 collectively, but they smashed that to raise much more for this incredible charity – eventually raising a total of £9,080! It was an awesome experience for the three ‘high flyers’ and proves that the sky really is the limit when you set your sights on something. Pictured (from left): Amanda, Cat, and Dave – they would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took the time to make a donation, it really has helped to make a difference to so many people during their most difficult time.
Easter Eggs for The Trussell Trust

The Easter Eggs all ready for donation. The Nationwide team helped out The Trussell Trust with the donation of Easter Eggs, in particular, the Rugby and Lutterworth food banks. The Trussell Trust is a well-known UK charity that operates a network of food banks, providing emergency food and support to people in crisis. As Easter approached, a group of compassionate individuals recognized an opportunity to make a difference in their community. Their aim was to collect and distribute Easter eggs to the Rugby and Lutterworth food banks, with the intention of brightening the holiday for those facing challenging circumstances. The Easter egg donation drive was a great success. We delivered a total of 197 Easter eggs to the Rugby and Lutterworth food banks. These eggs would be distributed to families and individuals in need, helping to bring a little joy to their Easter celebrations. The Nationwide team would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated, including our recruitment partners, InSync Recruitment and SolviT Recruitment LTD.
Charity ‘goes wild’ for £1,000 Nationwide donation

Caption: Kevin Caveney of Nationwide Windows & Doors and Rebecca Dermody-Simmons of EEM present the cheque to Mellers Primary School pupils. A charity working to make the natural world more accessible to inner-city children has benefitted from a £1,000 donation from Nationwide Windows & Doors. Wild Things, based in Nottingham and Derby, were “surprised and delighted” to receive the funding after being nominated by the winner of a prize draw held by Nationwide on their stand at the recent CIH Housing 2021 exhibition. Rebecca Dermody-Simmons, Chief Executive at Efficiency East Midlands (EEM), was the lucky winner of the prize draw and knew exactly where she wanted the donation to go. “I felt a big responsibility to ensure it went to a charity who would really benefit from the generous amount,” she says. “I have known about Wild Things for a while and they provide such an amazing experience for children, which has become even more important following the recent lockdowns. “I hope the donation will give them the opportunity to get more children outdoors and enjoying the activities they offer – I certainly enjoyed tracking through the woods with them on the day we handed over the cheque!” Kate Milman, Forest School and Environmental Education Worker at Wild Things, says: “We were surprised and delighted to be selected for this generous donation towards our project – especially during a time when finding funding for our work is becoming increasingly challenging. “We set up Wild Things 25 years ago, with the main aim of helping children and young people access positive and potentially life changing experiences in the natural world that they wouldn’t otherwise have access to. Each year we work with approximately 500 children and young people, the majority of whom will never have spent time in a woodland environment before. “The natural world offers so many emotional, social and educational benefits, especially during these difficult times, and donations like this mean that we can make the benefits and joy of time in the natural world accessible to more inner-city children.” From left: Rebecca Dermody-Simmons (EEM), Kevin Caveney (Nationwide Windows & Doors) and Kate Milman (Wild Things). The £1,000 donation will go towards a future six-week Forest School programme with children from Mellers Primary School in Nottingham, and Kevin Caveney, Director of Commercial Sales at Nationwide, joined some of the pupils to see Wild Things in action. “Our mission at Nationwide is to improve communities, housing and homes,” says Kevin. “After meeting the team and seeing their great work, it’s clear that Wild Things has a hugely positive impact on the children and the communities that they work with. “It was wonderful to see how relaxed and happy they were at being given the opportunity to immerse themselves in the wild. We’re so pleased that the donation has gone to such a great cause.” Find out more about Wild Things and the work they do at: www.wildthings.org.uk.
