Nationwide Windows wins at Welsh Housing Awards

Nationwide Windows is delighted to announce that it has been awarded the Most Community Focused Contractor accolade at the CIH Welsh Housing Awards.

Now in their sixth year, the awards were created to showcase the very best in innovation and excellence in the Welsh housing sector across both public and private sector organisations. Nationwide was nominated for the award for its partnering work with Cartrefi Cymunedol Gwynedd (CCG).

The judges in this category were looking in particular for submissions which demonstrated:

  • A proven track record in embracing the targeted recruitment and training agenda, for example, through the ‘can do’ toolkit.
  • Innovative delivery of community benefits.
  • Practical examples of delivering corporate social responsibility objectives to local Welsh communities.

Nationwide Windows Ltd invested some £475,000 to help upgrade 3410 North Wales homes to WHQS, with a manufacturing facility based in Bangor, which also resulted in the creation of 35 new jobs (including 10 apprenticeships) in an area with the highest unemployment in Gwynedd.

Performance headlines include 97.75% recycling rates; 40,178.4 KG C02 Savings and £303.28p.a. potential saving per household thanks to A rated windows as standard. As well as using local labour and suppliers, the team has been actively working with CCG tenant groups and local charitable initiatives, including Tenant Choice Events and fun days, helping to ensure a resident satisfaction rate of 97.

Managing Director John Whalley comments: “We are thrilled that our work alongside CCG has been recognised with this accolade. The Nationwide Windows approach has always been, not to simply install windows into houses, but to install them into peoples’ homes. It’s often these softer parts of a partnering arrangement that make the difference between success and failure. Winning the Community Focused Contractor award certainly endorses this approach.”

Francon Williams, Chief Executive of CCG adds: Nationwide Windows Ltd was one of the first partners we appointed and has been with us from the beginning of our investment project. They have always been keen to work closely with us to ensure that the service to our customers is of the highest standard. This is reflected in the positive feedback we have had from tenants on their work. The company understands how we work and have embraced our policy of involving tenants in everything we do, and we’re delighted to be a partner with them in this winning achievement.”
